General Notes Amendment

On 07 October 2022, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) informed of the General Notes in Schedule No.1 to the Customs and Excise Act, 1964 (‘Ordinary Customs Duty’), by the deletion of the references in Note O.1 pertaining to ‘Arab Republic of Egypt’ and ‘Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Principe’, the date of implementation and phasedown period applicable (5 years) to these two countries, with retrospective effect from 01 January 2021.
