In the privatisation procedure for the Cypriot port of Limassol the island state’s ministry of transport has received 14 bids from approved operators.
According to Cyprus Mail, these included six for the container terminal and five for the multipurpose terminal.
After evaluating the submissions, and once the preferred bidder has been selected, an official announcement will be made.
An interesting point raised by Port Technology is that China has expressed an interest in a number of Cypriot ports – with the intention of making the island a regional shipping hub.
