Fedex/TNT merger clears another hurdle

The US$4.8-billion Fedex Corporation and TNT Express deal received clearance from United States (US) authorities this week.

According to news agency, Reuters, the European Union (EU) has not signed off on the proposed merger yet but both companies have reportedly received assurances that the EU antitrust regulators would not raise any objections to the transaction.

Last month, the deadline for acceptance of competition clearances was extended to January 8 next year. FedEx’s offer to acquire TNT was announced in April this year.
