In a letter dated 16 July 2012, “Export of Goods Subject to Tariff Quota to the European Union”, the Acting Senior Manager: Trade Administration advised: Goods subject to tariff quota may only be exported on condition that an exporter has a valid permit issued by the Department of Agriculture Forests and Fisheries in terms of Rule 49A.26.03 of the Customs and Excise Act read with Notice 2435 of 1999 published in Gazette No. 20584 of 5 November 1999 published by the Department of Agriculture Forests and Fisheries. No EUR1 may be completed by the exporter, or if completed, certified by a Customs Officer unless a valid permit issued by the Department is available. The permit must be delivered to the branch office together with the export declaration form and a completed EUR1. The quantity exported must be written off the ROO system and from the permit and the permit retained if the quantity is exhausted. The following products are subject to tariff quota: Canned Fruits – 2008.40/50/70, (Mixed Fruits - 2008.92.59/2008.92.98, Orange Juice - 2009.11.99, Apple Juice - 2009.71.20 to 2009.79.99, Pine Apple Juice – 2009.11/41/49, and Wine – 2204.21/79/80/83/84/85 In the case of cut flowers the quota is available on a first come first basis according to the electronically stored balances available at the time of export.
