Expect slightly lower increases - survey

Employees in the clearing and forwarding sector can expect slightly lower increases in the year ahead based on the findings of the latest remuneration survey published by P E Corporate Services in conjunction with Lee Botti & Associates. Produced every second year, the survey revealed that increases in the clearing and forwarding sector averaged 7%, with slightly lower increases averaging 6-6.5% predicted for 2014. According to Melanie Trollip, CEO of P E Corporate Services, executive increases have been lower this year compared to historical trends with a greater focus on performance-related reward and incentives. “Staff turnover for the past year was 12% which is marginally higher than the national average, mainly as a result of some job losses in the sector during the first half of 2013,” she told FTW. The survey, launched 30 years ago, was well supported, with 27 companies participating, Lee Botti & Associates MD Lee Botti told FTW. “It is a vital guide for companies to keep abreast of salary packages in the industry,” she said. Botti and Trollip were visiting participants in the Gauteng region last week to discuss trends and skills shortages.
