Expansion planned at Matsapha depot

JAMES HALL MBABANE – Swaziland Railway is steadily expanding its facilities and services. The Matsapha I nland Container Depot, or so-called Dry Port, owned by the railway, will grow in size in 2007. The railway transports all coal produced in Swaziland to Gauteng, and negotiations with Spoornet have reduced travel time to the Port of Durban for outbound rail freight, such as raw agricultural products and finished manufacturing goods. Pressure is now on Spoornet by freight clearance companies to ensure swifter trips to Swaziland for incoming raw materials for manufacturing and agricultural inputs. I nternationally recognised for its good management team, the Swaziland Railway is known for aggressively pursuing new ideas on technology and customer services.
