Etihad looks to create Italian cargo hub

An agreement has been signed by the Abu Dhabi-based carrier, Etihad Airways, and the management of Italy’s Parma Airport to develop cargo traffic at the airport.

The first move is to establish a cargo transit centre – around which Etihad is looking at creating a future cargo hub.

The project is expected to be put together with the help of partner airlines such as Alitalia.

Although Milan Malpensa is currently the regional choice of foreign carriers, Parma has the benefits of lower costs and its proximity to one of Italy’s most important production areas for high-value goods.
