While Covid-19 challenges have eclipsed all else in the forwarding community worldwide, the UK government has not lost sight of the essential role of training and employment support schemes.
It has allocated additional funding that will allow members of the industry to scale up employment support schemes, training and apprenticeships, a move that has been welcomed by Director General of the British International Freight Association (Bifa), Robert Keen.
“Having been actively involved in the creation of an International Freight Forwarding Specialist apprenticeship, Bifa has committed to promote its availability since it was introduced in 2018. We will continue to encourage employers and potential entrants to consider this apprenticeship as a route into the industry,” said Carl Hobbis, Bifa’s training development manager.
