Eagle finds empowerment partner

AFTER A lengthy search, Eagle Freight has managed to find a suitable black economic empowerment (BEE) partner, according to m.d. Bobby Pearson. "We have been looking for a suitable BEE group to set up as an independent force in the industry," he told FTW. "You canÕt do this overnight but we have now found the perfect fit." A joint-venture has been formed between the BEE company, Pekwa Investments, and the Eagle associate company, Logvest, to establish Ukhozi Logistics. Ukhozi has entered into a two-year service agreement with Eagle which will supply the new venture with immediate access to local and international markets, Pearson added. Another primary function will be skills transfer and already staff has been employed for Eagle to key-up into operational positions for the new company. "A basic team with competent management has already been established," said Pearson, "which will ensure that Ukhozi will be an independent force in as short a time as possible." The new company will aggressively market its services, according to Ukhozi m.d. Maloisane Sehloho. "Our aim is to become a significant player in the logistics industry in the next three years," he said.
