Dti to lead agro-processing-focused outward selling mission to Far East

The Department of Trade and Industry (dti) will lead an Outward Selling Investment Mission (OSIM) to Singapore and Malaysia from July 25-29.

Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Mzwandile Masina, said: "The mission forms part of the dti's objective to create and identify export markets and investment partners for South African value-added products and services in Southeast Asia.”

He pointed out that this mission in particular would be “ideal for South African companies looking for investment and technical partners in the agro-processing sector”.

According to Masina, the dti has planned a programme of activities, which will include a trade and investment seminar, mini exhibitions, business-to-business meetings and site visits.

Manufacturers and exporters in the agro-processing sector – including processed raw meat, sea food, fruit juices, fresh, dried and canned fruit, olive oil, canned foods, sauces, nuts and rooibos tea –  are encouraged to apply.

The closing date for applications is 25 May.
