Anna Cox THE DEPARTMENT of Trade and Industry is planning to move its premises into the Mandela Development Corridor, in the heart of Pretoria. The department has issued a request for qualification for a 25-year master concession under a public-private partnership for the design, fast-track construction, lifecycle management and financing of the departmentÕs new premises. The reason for commissioning a new building is that the departmentÕs various operations are scattered and many of the buildings being used are not designed for collaboration within organisations or within the department itself. They are hoping to occupy the new premises within three years. The new R1-billion, 20ha Mandela Development Corridor stretches from Nelson Mandela Drive in the west, Jeppe Street in the east, Vermeulen Street in the north and Rissik street in the south. The new premises will include a business centre where visitors will have access to general office services such as faxing and photocopying and information services.
