DTI involves forwarders in EMIA

Leonard Neill THE DEPARTMENT of Trade and Industry (DTI) has called on the South African freight forwarding industry to submit names of officials who can be appointed to a panel of service providers to assist the department in its export marketing programme. Describing the move as an expression of interest in support of the DepartmentÕs Export Marketing and Investment Assistance Scheme (EMIA), DTIÕs Gordon Gleimius says it is the intention of the departmentÕs Trade and Investment South Africa (TISA) division to appoint a panel of service providers who will provide specific services on a task order basis for freight forwarding and travel arrangements, in support of EMIA. The intention, he says, is to involve the industry as far as possible in working closely with the department in developing its export marketing strategy. Interested firms have been asked to collect the required documents from the offices of TISA, which are situated at EMIA reception, SABS Admin Building, Groenkloof, Pretoria. The closing date for submissions has been set for Monday, May 13 but interested firms can contact Jacqueline Bamford on (012) 428-7678 for further information.
