On 17 March 2014 stakeholders were advised that statements for a thirteenth payment would close on 27 March 2014 at midnight with the payment due by no later than 12:00 on Saturday, 29 March 2014.
Sars said it appreciated the co-operative spirit displayed by trade in re-considering payment arrangements to assist it in successfully closing off the financial year-end.
In the event that any deferment account holder has difficulty in meeting this arrangement, Sars advised them to submit a written motivation for consideration to the group executive, Rae Cruikshank, by Wednesday 19 March 2014. According to Sars, each of these cases will be considered on its own merits and for exceptional circumstances only.
Sars advised stakeholders, specifically in cases where their bank does not transfer direct payments immediately, that they should ensure that payments are made sufficiently in advance in order to meet the payment deadline as above.
