On 01 June 2026, the South African Revenue Service advised that all drivers entering South Africa with vehicles for temporary importation are required to declare such vehicles at the port of entry. This replaces the previous requirement, which applied only to vehicles registered outside the Southern African Customs Union (SACU), and now includes SACU‑registered vehicles.
