CUSTOMS HAS had excellent feedback from the private sector shipping bodies which examined the interim plan to rationalise all customs' interpretation of procedures, according to Gavin Collinet, senior specialist (customs).
Naming the ASL (Association of Shipping Lines); Asabosa (Association of Ships Agents and Brokers of SA) and SAAFF (SA Association of Freight Forwarders) as the main respondents, Collinet told FTW that their input had been incorporated in the plan wherever possible.
After consulting the controllers and the people outside, we noted what we were told, he said. A number of good points were made by the associations, and things have been adjusted to suit.
The interim plan is now due for implementation on July 17, he added.
