On 05 May the Executive: Customs Modernisation of South African Revenue Service (Sars) addressed a letter to stakeholders titled “Application of Customs Office Code for clearances submitted to Mananga”. The letter reads: “Your attention is drawn to the fact that the correct customs office code for Mananga border post is ‘MAN’. Certain declarants have up until now used ‘BDG’. However, as of 06 May 2012, clearances bearing this code will be rejected by Sars. Service providers to the trade must ensure that their respective business solutions provide for this electronic measure to facilitate declarants preparing import and export clearances for this border post. Your cooperation in this regard is appreciated.”
