THE NEW tariff structure for Portnet's port authority division (PAD) is due to be put in place in the middle of the year, chief executive Siyabonga Gama told FTW.
This, he said, will be the start of a phased implementation of the new tariff.
This is a very complex exercise, Gama added. And PAD has - since the workshops towards the end of last year - conducted further intensive research.
Gama plans a Tariff Conference during the latter half of March, jointly hosted with the departments of Public Enterprises; Transport; and Finance.
The primary aim of this conference, said Gama, will be:
l To present the PAD view on tariff structures to be phased in across all ports;
l To have international representation at the conference, to present port authority tariff structures, and applications at overseas ports; and
l To solicit inputs and comments, to enable us to confirm the new PAD tariff structures.
