The Kenya Ports Authority expects its new container terminal to be completed in three years’ time.
According to information released by the Port Management Association of Eastern and Southern Africa (Pmaesa), the construction of the new terminal (berths 20-23) at Kipevu West and financed by the Government of Japan to the tune of US$ 329 million, is the biggest project currently under way at the port.
Construction started in March 2013.
The new terminal is expected to be operated by a private operator who will be selected through an international competitive bidding process.
