Competition Tribunal – Battery Complaint

On 10 April 2015 the Competition Tribunal gave notice that, on 25 March 2015 it had received a complaint referral from The South African Batteries Importers Association, Hudaco Trading (Proprietary) Limited t/a Deltec Power Distributors, Hudaco Trading (Proprietary) Limited t/a Specialised Battery Systems, Enertec Batteries (Proprietary) Limited, Probe Corporation South Africa (Proprietary) Limited and Tiauto (Proprietary) Limited t/a YSA against First National Battery (Proprietary) Limited, Powertech Industries (Proprietary) Limited t/a Willard Batteries, Donaventa Holdings (Proprietary) Limited t/a Dixon Batteries, Bridgestone South Africa Retail (Proprietary) Limited t/a Supa Quick, Hi-Q Automotive, Battery Centre (Proprietary) Limited, Willard Batteries South Africa Limited and the Competition Commission. The complainants allege that the respondents are engaged in a prohibited practice in contravention of the Competition Act.
