Chinese airport records strong cargo growth

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) handled 410 000 tonnes of cargo in January this year, 9.9% more than the same month last year.

Transhipments and imports were up by 14% and 10% respectively. Traffic to/from Europe and India increased most significantly among the airport’s key trading regions.

On a 12-month rolling basis, HKIA handled 4.97 million tonnes of cargo, registering a growth of 9.7%.
