Cement import ban in Angola stays in place

Angola is continuing its cement import ban for 15 provinces this year.

The exceptions are the border provinces of Cabinda, Cunene and Kuando Kubango, where each has an “exceptional annual quota” of 150 000 tonnes of cement imports.

The reason behind the ban, according to state news agency Angop, is that domestic cement production capacity exceeds the local demand by some 3 million tonnes.
