CARGOLUX LAST year managed to top its record-breaking 1997 results to record the best year ever for the airline in 1998.
Operating profit was US$ 38,5 million (R 231m) on revenue of US$578 million (R3468m), up 5,2% on the previous year. The net profit after taxes amounted to US$92 million (R552m). This includes income generated from the sale of Cargolux's last three B747-200F aircraft.
Tons carried on Cargolux aircraft rose from 273 696 in 1997 to 321 982 in 1998.
The company's B747-400F fleet numbered six at the end of 1998. Four more are on order for delivery this year, the first having already joined the fleet in March.
