March 26 will see the introduction of an additional daily flight on the Singapore-Cape Town route, via Johannesburg, when Singapore Airlines ups its frequency.
The airline currently offers four flights per week to the city. An Airbus A350-900 aircraft will operate on the route.
CEO of Western Cape tourism, trade and investment promotion agency Wesgro, Tim Harris, noted that this would be a big boost for the Cape’s economy and would help to facilitate investment.
“This increased frequency will boost air access to Asia, the fastest growing region in the world,” he said.
“Singapore’s Changi Airport is a major global hub, making it easy to fly to Cape Town from anywhere in the East.”
