It’s all systems go for the South African Association of Freight Forwarders (Saaff ) annual conference that takes place virtually next week. The ‘Saaff Summit’, considered the most comprehensive and inf luential online business platform for the freight forwarding, logistics and supply chain sectors in southern Africa, will bring together over 300 decision makers, experts and industry leaders.“The freight forwarding and supply chain industries have been through a series of intense disruptions and challenges over the past year,” says Saaff ’s chief executive officer Dave Logan, highlighting that the event provides a valuable opportunity for the industry to reconnect, gain new perspectives, and learn lessons from recent challenges. One of the highlights will be a discussion by high-level industry leaders on the logistics around the Covid-19 vaccine rollout, which has been described as “the biggest supply chain challenge the world has ever seen”.“Supply chain robustness, readiness and agility are key to efficiently deploying Covid-19 vaccines in line with defined vaccination strategies,” says Dr Maria du Preez, business development director: Bidvest International Logistics and chair of Saaff ’s Gauteng chapter.
