Major road works are expected in and around Cape Town this weekend. According to a spokesman for the City, the most heavily affected will be the CBD where extensive road rehabilitation work will take place on the intersection of Buitengragt and Walter Sisulu Avenues. “We are advising road users to obey all posted traffic restrictions including speed limits and to drive carefully through the areas where lanes will be closed from Friday evening at 5pm until 5am on Monday morning.” In Table Bay Boulevard line painting and other work will be done on the in-bound carriageway, which will also see several lanes closed. The spokesman said the decision to do the road works over the weekend was aimed at avoiding disrupting traffic during peak travelling hours in the week. It was part of ongoing maintenance work to the City’s roads.
