Benin plans to almost double ports’ import capacity next year

The Republic of Benin is planning to build five inland ports to move goods to Nigeria, Togo, Burkina Faso and Niger. The African country’s Cotonou Port handles 27% of the nation’s imports. The republic is planning to increase the port’s import volume from 5.5-million tons to nine million by 2011, according to dredgingtoday.
