The completion of reconstruction work on the Benguela Railroad in Angola will have a positive effect on the economy, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).
It noted that it will stimulate sectors such as agriculture and diamond mining along the rail corridor.
The 10-year, R19.5 billion project has been carried out by one of China’s largest construction groups, China Railway Construction. It included reconstruction of 1 344 kilometres of the railway line and repairs to, or construction of, 67 stations.
