Beit Bridge gets the thumbs up

THE BEIT Bridge border post has come up trumps following a surprise visit by a special investigative border control team at the end of March.
In a joint operation between the South African and Zimbabwean authorities, intensive checks of documents and systems as well as physical examinations of vehicles and cargo were carried out.
Said a SARS spokesman: All the objectives of the border control team were met. These included the targeting of illegal activities, documentary analysis of acquittals, building on intelligence analysis, the exchange of risk profiles and transfer of skills.
The team also found that of all international border posts in southern Africa, the systems used at Beit Bridge were the very latest.
