Asian partnership pays off for ILA

International Liner Agencies’ (ILA) decision to partner with Vanguard logistics Services throughout China and Hong Kong is paying dividends, says managing director Rod Taylor. “As was envisioned, the regional strength of ILA and the well-developed seamless network of Vanguard have delivered strong results within a few short months,” he said, providing a platform for further service enhancement. In South Africa recently on her first visit vice general manager for Vanguard Logistics Services, Helen Yeung, told FTW that the objective was to aggressively pursue more business for both parties. “This will be achieved through the introduction of innovative products that add real value,” she said, “leveraging the strengths of both businesses. She said that the partnership with ILA – which has a well-established African presence – had given both companies a “strong understanding” of Asian and African markets. “We recognise that in the current economic conditions, importers and their logistics partners need real flexibility. We believe ILA and Vanguard have delivered just that with bi-weekly sailings from key Chinese ports to South African main ports,” said ILA sales and marketing director, Raymond Cutts.
