TRANSNET CALLED on Safety and Security Minister Charles Nqakula to consider harsher sentencing for copper cable theft when he addressed a business breakfast jointly hosted by Safmarine and The Star in Gauteng last week. “The theft of copper cables has driven the price of copper up four fold in a year, never mind the consequential losses to us and business associated with the stolen cable,” head of Transnet security told FTW.
