Alliance Group speaks out

MOST OF the groupage business handled by the UK agents ICC -
liquidated on July 14 - has been taken over by the Alliance Group of Companies, chairman G S Waller told FTW.
In an extensive letter detailing the collapse Waller commented: The Alliance Group - in conjunction with the liquidators (and ex-ICC staff) - has been largely instrumental in guaranteeing the through-put of ongoing ICC business in all trades - including cargoes to former SA clients of ICC.
The group was a major creditor in the liquidation and has now moved in to handle much of ICC's client list.
Key staff from ICC have joined the Alliance Group, Waller added.
Due to the experience of both the ex-ICC and Alliance staff, he told FTW, we are perfectly placed to maintain that southbound business.
The group's SA business has grown rapidly over the last five years, according to Waller. He projects a minimum of 500 TEUs (twenty foot equivalent units) of LCL (less than container load) groupage movements in the next 12 months on the SA trade lane.
