Cargo throughput at the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) grew considerably, by 10.1%, in August this year in comparison to the same period in 2016.

A statement released by the airport yesterday (Sunday) noted that the main driver behind the strong growth was a significant 12% increase in exports.

Cargo volume at HKIA registered an 11.1% year-on-year growth to 3.15 million tonnes while transhipments rose by 10%.

According to a spokesperson, Europe and Southeast Asia increased the most significantly among the airport’s key trading regions.
