ANGOLAN SPECIALIST the Aguiar Group has set its sights on the growing Zambian market.
According to local representative Bill Brumby, the company is planning to open a Zambian office in the New Year.
"During a recent visit we noticed a marked improvement in the roads and business confidence was high," Brumby told FTW.
"Certain manufacturing companies are producing goods that could be re-exported within Africa, and we currently have a quote for copper from Zambia to Korea."
The plan is to open an office in a joint venture with a trade and finance company early in the New Year.
According to Brumby, the company is already
following up several enquiries for exports from Zambia to South Africa
and the rest of Africa as well as between Zambia and Angola.
When the Konkola Copper Mines in Chililabombwe come on stream it will prove a major boost for South Africa in Brumby's view. "They are likely to source 80% of their equipment from South Africa which will be a positive force for the country's exports."
