AfDB approves compliance recommendations for Medupi

The Medupi Power Project involves the construction of a 4 764 -megawatt coal-fired power plant in Lephalale, Limpopo.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved new recommendations on the implementation of an updated Management Action Plan for the Medupi Power Project in Limpopo.

According to a statement by the bank released yesterday (Tuesday), the action plan was designed to bring the project into compliance with the bank’s policies and procedures as a previous report had found that the project had a number of areas of non-compliance.

This after a €930-million loan by the bank for the supply and installation of six boilers and turbo-generators at Medupi in 2009.
