AIRPORTS COMPANY of SA (Acsa) has allocated R1.5 billion for upgrading of airports throughout the country. The money will be used to widen runways and shoulders and improve parking aprons to meet the arrival of South African Airways’ new Airbus fleet.
The focus, according to an Acsa statement, will be on smaller airports like East London, Kimberley, George and Upington. Cargo and passenger
facilities are included.
The amount allocated also includes the R500m already earmarked to upgrade the major international airports at Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.
