KEVIN MAYHEW FROM OFFERING an electronic documentation, monitoring and tracking system across the full logistics chain, Advanced Customs Solutions (ACS) is now providing a link to the accounting package of its clients’ choice. The company’s electronic product suite includes a fully integrated Windows-based harmonised customs and excise book; export and import programme; hard coding of certain documentation; automatic agents invoicing system; debtors and creditors manual; and an integrated bond book system. ACS was established in 2001 with a view to changing the stagnant old era of MS DOS and a mainframe computerised customs clearing system, said managing director, Darryl Greeff, “The speed at which the industry was generating its workload was not taking advantage of system capabilities offered for the specific purpose of decreasing workload and increasing productivity. The industry was being slowed down by incompatibility of systems,” he added. “The major benefit of the company’s suite of software applications presently available is that, once loaded, they all talk the same language and virtually full integration takes place at the click of a mouse.” Windows provides the capacity to multitask, a friendly interface and compatibility with the latest technologies on the market, he concluded.
