IF YOU are fishing for good economic news from Zimbabwe, reel in this story in Harare’s The Herald newspaper. Zimbabwe’s production in the fish industry, said the report, has increased from 2 000-tonnes in 2004 to 2 800-t last year. That was a total export income of US$4‑million (about R24.4-m) for the industry – or an average of just over R8.70 per kilogram. “This increase of 40%,” the report added, “is indicative of the fact that the industry is increasingly becoming a major player in the economy.”
