Freight systems bureau CompuClearing has given its CompuSolutions Classic module a facelift to create the newly branded CompuSolutions Diamond. “This new SaaS (software as a service) has brought our system into the modern era with a clean new look, scalable technology, platformindependent architecture and a few new features to boot,” business development assistant Jarred Miltz told FTW. “In addition our import/ export system allows framed entries to be submitted directly to Customs,” said Miltz. “Air waybills and e-air waybill messages are now sent directly to the airline.” A newsflash section notifies clients of any customs amendments, CompuClearing product updates and general CompuClearing information such as maintenance schedules, he added. The company has also made its cTariff (Tariff Book Solution) available online. “It has outstanding search capabilities, automatic tariff code updates from SA Revenue Service, and integrates fully into new Diamond,” he said. “It’s a big upgrade from the now dated black and white tariff book.” Reports have also been updated to become “more robust”, adding functionality such as ‘sort reports’, customisation of own reports and sharing of reports. Reflecting on industry trends, Miltz believes the move to cloud-based solutions is becoming more and more critical. “These ‘lighter’ solutions provide customers with access across multiple platforms and multiple locations – and less infrastructure is now required on the client side. The result is a reduction in set-up costs and operational costs are therefore kept to a minimum, allowing customers to focus solely on their business needs.” For the future, CompuClearing has growth on the continent firmly in its sights. “We are looking to venture into southern Africa and further expand our business IT solutions,” said Miltz. “Imports and exports are growing at a higher rate than ever before. New infrastructure is being built throughout Africa to support this, and supply chain solutions are being developed to ensure that these infrastructural projects are successful. CompuClearing, in partnership with CargoWise One, is able to provide a supply chain solution that includes project management and change control.
