67 minutes well spent

The shipping industry joined thousands of volunteers around the world in support of the fourth Nelson Mandela International Day last week as they celebrated the icon’s 94th birthday on July 18. In Johannesburg Safmariners and their customer Merisol spent more than 67 minutes – one minute for every year Mandela dedicated to the fight for social justice – painting classrooms and planting lemon trees at Khensani School in Shoshanguve in Gauteng while Safmariners in Cape Town joined the SA Post Office in planting 50 indigenous trees at the Velokhaya Life Cycling Academy BMX Oval in Khayelitsha near Cape Town.
