Amid growing calls by the ANC NEC to get rid of Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan, several organisations have joined ANC veterans warning that those leading the charge are largely those facing corruption charges.
Why would anybody listen to Mosebenzi Zwane, is the question raised by the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa), which last week joined the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation and other organisations endorsing the warning by ANC veterans.
“Since 2012 there has been a golden thread that attaches Zwane to the Guptas,” says Rudie Heyneke, Outa’s portfolio manager on state capture. “We believe that he abandoned oath of office and abused his public office as an MEC in the Free State province, as an MP and as minister of mineral resources to enrich the Gupta family and their business associates."
Outa says Zwane should be facing criminal charges instead of being an MP on a publicly funded salary. He chairs the portfolio committee on transport, which is a powerful position.
