Finance Controller

Our client, a fast-growing clearing and forwarding agent, is looking for a Finance Controller to handle their foreign entities finances in terms of debtors and creditors. The individual may be based in either Cape Town or Johannesburg.

This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented finance superstar to grow within their business, handling finances for their African offices. 

Duties:

• Support function to finance team in West Africa, currently Ivory Coast & Sierra Leone.
• AP invoice inputting, matching and validation.
• Supporting documents control.
• Bank account signatory, EFT payments.
• Contact with company payables (Shipping line and terminals) to open accounts and ensure a digital payment mechanism is in place.
• Recording bank payments and receipts.
• Bank statement reconciliation.
• Journals validation, month-end closure.
• Disbursement control, accrual and WIP reports and file closure.
• Weekly cashflow projection to management.
• Financial data accuracy.
• Bank statement reconciliation.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role within clearing and forwarding (non-negotiable).
• Experience handling finances for African offices (outside of RSA) highly beneficial.
• CargoWise experience advantageous.
• Matric plus relevant qualification.
• Ability to work independently and with great attention to details.
