Senior Import Controller

As a Senior Import Controller, you will be responsible for end-to-end management of import cargo, coordinating shipments through the international transport chain and ensuring compliance with all statutory, commercial and carrier requirements.

 Responsibilities: 

• Forwarding and clearing of shipments.
• Transport coordination and administration of shipment files.
• Arrange insurance cover and manage claims.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to Import Controllers and Learners.
• Ensure compliance with quality management system requirements.
• Handle ad hoc tasks as needed.
• Maintain excellent customer service standards in a demanding environment.

Requirements:

• 5–7 years’ experience in import controlling within the clearing and forwarding industry.
• Strong understanding of INCOTERMS, seafreight shipment types and claims/insurance processes.
• Knowledge of commercial, transport, carrier, depot and statutory documentation.
• Understanding of rate structures, international codes and national currencies.
• Matric.
• 2-year freight forwarding qualification at NQF Level 4 or 5 (or equivalent).
• Sound ShipShape knowledge advantageous.
