Import and Export Controller

Our client, a well-established player in the clearing and forwarding industry is seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Import and Export Controller to manage shipments from start to finish.

The ideal candidate will ensure efficient service delivery, accurate documentation and excellent client communication, while adhering to company policies and and compliance standards.  Responsibilities: 

• Handle shipment files from A-Z, including allocation, documentation and status updates.
• Coordinate with clients, carriers and international offices for import and export shipments.
• Monitor cargo movements and update shipment status in CargoWise.
• Track shipments from indent to proof of delivery and invoice payment.
• Resolve client queries efficiently and maintain high service standards.
• Assist with invoicing and accruals, including demurrage and detention costs.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, agents and carriers.
• Provide administrative support to the Ocean Freight Import and Export team.

Requirements:

• Matric (Grade 12).
• 2–3 years’ experience in Import and Export Freight / Clearing and Forwarding.
• Knowledge of Incoterms, customs requirements and CargoWise (required).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook).
•  FIATA Diploma, or Logistics/Supply Chain qualification.
