GABORONE-BASED Zebra Shipping - which is affiliated to Bax Global (International) - bucks the trend when it comes to the road over rail option . It opts for rail for all the important reasons.
“It is cheaper, clears customs faster, we have no problem with pilferage and there is no hijacking,” says managing director of the international ocean and air freight forwarding company, Brixton Mogami.
He adds that 75% of its mainly containerised freight - using predominantly Durban for import and export - is transported by rail.
The company does sometimes use road over rail where it is obvious that the alternative will meet urgent delivery times which are not possible with rail.
Zebra Shipping is an international air and ocean freight forwarder which has adjusted to the changing international environment by offering a full range of services to meet the challenges faced by customers in handling worldwide shipping needs, he said.
