On 28 August the World Trade Organization (WTO) announced that at a meeting of the Dispute Settlement Body its Members had agreed to the establishment of a dispute panel to review a complaint filed by Turkey regarding the European Union (EU) safeguard measures on imports of certain steel products. The United States of America (USA) blocked a request from the People’s Republic of China for a panel to review its compliance with a WTO ruling regarding Chinese subsidies for wheat and rice production.
