On 04 October the South African Revenue Service (Sars) announced the deletion of various anti-dumping items and the insertion of Anti-dumping Item 215.02 in Part 1 of Schedule No 2 to the Customs and Excise Act, 1964 “Anti-dumping, Countervailing and Safeguard Duties on Imported Goods: Anti-Dumping Duties on Imported Goods" to amend the tariff headings liable for anti-dumping duty for wire ropes and cables, imported from or originating in the People’s Republic of China.

The insertion of Anti-dumping Item 215.02/7312.10.17/01.08 “Stranded wire, of iron or steel, not electrically insulated, of a diameter of 12,7 mm or more (excluding that of wire of stainless steel, that of wire plated, coated or clad with copper and that identifiable as conveyor belt cord)” originating in or imported in the People’s Republic of China, with exclusion for Rebate Items 301.00 to 399.00 and 401.00 to 499.00, is at an anti-dumping rate of 113.25%.

The deletion of Anti-dumping Items 215.02/7312.10.20/01.08; 215.02/7312.10.25/03.08; 215.02/7312.10.25/04.08; 215.02/7312.10.40/03.08; and 215.02/312.10.40/04.08.

The reasoning for the tariff amendments are contained in the International Trade Administration of South Africa (Itac) Minute 05/2019.
