WCO’s 152nd and 153rd HS Members

Publish Date:
23 Jun 2015

On 12 June 2015 the World Customs Organisation (WCO) announced that Sierra Leone and Djibouti had become the 152nd and 153rd Contracting Parties to the Harmonised System (HS) Convention.

On 12 June 2015, Sierra Leone and Djibouti deposited with the Secretary General of the WCO their instruments of accession to the International Convention on the Harmonised Commodity Description and Coding System. More than 98% of international merchandise trade is classified in terms of the Harmonised System.

The HS Convention will enter into force in Sierra Leone on 1 January 2017, unless Sierra Leone decides to specify an earlier date. Djibouti has specified that the Harmonised System Convention will enter into force in the country on 1 September 2015.
