DP World subsidiary and operator of the UAE logistics multinational’s Indian sub-continent platform, Unifeeder, has announced the completion of a long-term agreement for two additional methanol-capable container vessels.
A statement issued on behalf of Unifeeder says the agreement further solidifies the transhipment line’s commitment to sustainable shipping solutions.
“In collaboration with German-based ship-owning group Elbdeich Reederei, and Norwegian shipowner MPC Container Ships (MPCC), Unifeeder is taking significant steps towards the green transformation of its fleet and operations,” the statement says.
The development forms part of DP World’s over-arching strategy to reduce its carbon footprint.
The Dubai-based ports and terminals operator has already “reduced its carbon footprint by more than 16% in 2023 from its 2019 baseline, demonstrating its commitment to decarbonisation,” the statement says.
“DP World also joined the First Movers Coalition, setting a target for 5% of its marine power to come from zero-emissions fuels by 2030.
