They don’t get bigger than this!

THE WORLD’S largest container vessel made her first call at Aarhus in Denmark yesterday (September 7), as she entered service on the Europe – Far East route for Maersk Line. The Emma Maersk, the first in a new series of PS-class vessels delivered on September 1, measures 397 metres in length, is 56 metres wide and is able to carry 11 000 TEUs and 1 000 forty-foot equivalent refrigerated containers. With her high-scale automation and complete monitoring by advanced computer systems, she can be operated by a crew of just 13.
