PORTNET HAS appointed Captain Dave Sumpton as relieving marine manager for the Port of Durban. The position became vacant after the resignation of Captain Ken Shirley, who has taken up an appointment as director of marine operations for the newly privatised Port of Maputo. His duties include management of all marine activities in the port, including most harbour craft, tugs and pilot boats.
Sumpton was the deputy port captain at Durban and his position will now be filled by Captain Brian Kohler who assumes the position of relieving deputy port captain.
